P1: Hi, My Name is LickWick, and I'm a MW2-holic P2: You're in a safe place LickWick, but we don't use gamertags here. P1: oh I'm sorry.. I'll try again. Hi, My Name is....uh.. oh yea, Chunlick, and I'm a MW2-holic. All: Hi Chunlick!
Dear World,
I'm back at blogspot! It's been a while, and we can all lay blame to CoD: Modern Warfare 2. It all started two weeks ago, when I was playing at Gary's house. I was horrible, always dying 5x more than I was killing. But the Wu-man starts giving me these pro-tips (he's godly) and I come back to Portland and straight up start killin' foos left and right! That's when I got hooked @_@. POWPOWPOW
I've been playing almost every night, bleeding away my hours like they were nothing! It was crazy, and I didn't care! Now, 40 levels later I look back and see all the destruction (in real life) I've caused. I flashbanged this blog, jammed my online friends RADAR, and took an RPG to my own personal hygiene. (It's not too bad, I just accidentally skipped brushing my teeth ONCE...is that bad?) So now I'm putting a limit to how much I play. I'm feeling the urge to play at this very moment. But I can't neglect this blog, my friends, and my teeth forever!
Sincerely,
LickWick
PS3: In all honesty, the recent global shutdown of fatPS3's may have caused me to stop playing momentarily. I have a slimPS3, but today, all these highlevel fatPS3er's came on PSN to binge play and shot the hell out of me. I had a 0-9 record. I rage quitted. The end.
A little Housecleaning
1st and foremost, nobody guessed it right last post! Some of you came awfully close (gj Stef, Tiana) but no Cigar. The real list goes like this:
1. Alex
2. Andy
3. Henry? haha, what a mysterious guy
And.. to get the yelp style clickamajiggers, you go to layout and click 'edit' in the 'blog post' box. Cool!
Money buys Happiness
Sure does. I just bought me a PS3, baby. Now I can stay up late playing MW2 with my PS3 buddies (add me: LickWick). At first I was pretty hesitant about buying one, because I'd have to get a TV too. But then I was asking my uncle where he got his 42", and he was like don't go out and buy one just use mine I barely use it. :) It's great because now I can watch my 2.5Men, and stream stuff off of SurftheChannel.com on a big screen.
NUMBER ONE!
So few months back, I started my first NBA fantasy league and as of this week guess who's number one?
Yep, me! But unfortunately and stupidly, I forgot to set my lineup on Monday and benched 3 very good players *sigh* I might pretty much just gave away my #1 spot already. I'm also beginning to wonder if it's luck or my unhealthy love for data, because i'm sure as hell it's not my knowledge of basketball.
Most weekdays I just stay in because I don't really know the area. But Alex starts pestering me about finding my soul mate immediately earlier today and how I'll die a lonely man if I don't get out of the house. At first I shrugged it off, because I don't like people telling me what to do (real reason is I'm scared). But there's only so much Starcraft one can play with their younger cousins before your mind begins to rot.
So I hop onto Yelp and search Nightlife in Portland. Bookmarked a bunch of 4.5 stars and started reading up on them. Came across this place called Ground Kontrol. It's a barcade. What's that you ask? By now you probably figured out. Yep, it's a Bar and an Arcade. Sweet. Sounds like a good Thursday night. Even better! every last Thursday of the month they host a Nintendo event! With Nintendo trivia, and tournaments. Awesome, perfect timing thanks to Alex.
I would have gone alone, but I called up my pal Joey to go with. We end up somewhere downtown, and Joey complains about the narrow lanes. I didn't notice because it felt just like SF downtown lanes. I actually felt kinda nostalgic haha. Apparently GK was located in a shady part of town, but it felt pretty damn safe to me. The inside of GK looked a lot like the arcade in the movie TRON. They even had the game TRON! (i sucked miserably).
As I slowly got tipsy sipping on my 2 dollar PBR I fed the following machines:
Simpsons Arcade - went further than I ever went using only 50 cents!
Gauntlet Legends - Spent most of our time and money on this one. One of Joey's Nostalgia games. It was pretty fun, but Gamespot gave it a 2/5 stars?
Frogger - you gotta play frogger, but I was a disappointment holy crap. I killed 6 frogs within 1 minute. Couldnt get past the river at all wtf.
Tron - It was the tanks game, and I believe I do not know how to play, similar experience to Frogger
Demolition Man Pinball - their entire top floor was filled with all kinds of pinball machines. I love playing pinball, and the one that caught my eye was the one with Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes in.. DEMOLITION MAN. I lost all 3 balls within 1 minute. -_-
Pirates of the Caribbean Pinball - This is probably my favorite pinball machine. Probably because they had the exact same one in Davis. Pew Pew Pew I lasted 3 minutes.
Man while were absorbed in the world of Gauntlet Legends, they were holding Goldeneye and Mario Kart 64 tourneys. I so wanted to do the Mario Kart tournament but my character was level 8! So much hard work, I couldn't just leave and die!
I would definitely go back here, cheap beers, nostalgic games and a chill crowd. Now to check my Yelp bookmark list for the next installment of Exploregon.
It was 10:32PM on a Sunday and I was just hanging out at one of my spots in the city. *BZZT* My Blackberry flashes and I get an e-mail from a dealer friend of mine. Yo wutsup man, I got some high demand for that H, get here by 12. Damn, I just hit the lottery, I had 20 G's worth of Heroin stashed and this guy needs it bad. I'm gonna make some bank tonight, Ibiza here I come. I pop open my safe and grab as much as I could fit in my messenger bag. SHIT! I just realized my G35 is in the shop because my knucklehead cousin nearly totaled it streetracing. No matter, the streets are my dealership and my 9mm is my down payment. I quickly hail down a Taxi and knock out the driver with my 9mm. As his body hits the ground with a thud, I stomp on the gas and head toward the bridge. I gotta get to Northside Park quick, or I'm shit out of luck.
My heart is racing as I dodge traffic, weaving in and out bumping into cars and barely missing pedestrians. It doesn't matter, the car isn't mine, and the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is huge. *BAM!* I just rear-ended someone. DAMN, oh good, car still works, but as I reverse I noticed the words on the back of the trunk. Siren's are blazing as I gas forward. I make the bridge with two patrol cars tailing me. I can shake them I can shake them. I know i can shake them! I see the exit and I swerve three lanes over to barely make it. YES! I look back to see one of the cops just busted into the divider. One to go. As I look back on the road, I see this huge brick wall in front of me. oh..god. *SKIIIIRRT* phewf, I brake just in the nick of time to prevent me from being graffitied onto the wall. But the window suddenly shatters and I see a gun in my face. Busted. NOOOOOO $$$
Oh well. At least I saved before I left my place. :)
haha, so I was looking for things to bring on the trip to Oregon and I got this game GTA: Chinatown Wars for my DS because it got a 9/10 on Gamespot.com
I'm now hooked. I loved GTA I, II, III and on and this was a really nice package for the DS. The view was birds-eye view just like the older GTA's but the gameplay was just as fun as the newer ones. The great thing about this game is that they really incorporated the side-stories and side-missions well. Right now, as you can see from the above account that I've been making money as a drug dealer. So fun!! I love fake crime.
I recommend this game if you're into them gangster movies and games like I is.
This day was probably what got me sick. Sleeping at 4AM and waking up at 10 to go Oyster eating. It was refreshing to wake up at a normal hour! The drive to the Oyster place was pretty twisty, I was so lucky they let me sit in the front. I had very little motion sickness this time (phew!). The Oysters were delicious and cheap! 50 bucks for 50 oysters nom. It was pretty fun learning how to shuck! It was even better eating the oysters that you shuck, so gratifying. My sauce of choice is lime with Tabasco sauce.
(left) The guys chillin; (right)Cherry's Butter Cheese Onion Oyster concoction
When we made the drive back, there were like 10 Miatas that suddenly showed up behind us! Made me want to take my car out on those roads one day.
Henry's Thanksgiving
On the drive back, Gary and I were talking about Henry's fried wontons. His parents make them every year and they are damned good! Henry's Turkey was amazingly moist and tender, I would have ate more! But unfortunately, towards the end, I was completely fatigued. I wanted to sleep so bad, and their deliciuos vietnamese Iced coffee had no effect on me. I should have went home to sleep, but everyone was down to hangout and I couldn't miss out on the fun!
We went back to Henry's place and played a bunch of Halo, and Buzz. Alex and Kevin also brought their MMA gloves and.. we all partook in an activity which, due to the 1st 2 rules, I can't talk about it :)
By the time I got to sleep, it was like 3 o clock. I woke up extremely groggy at 3 o clock the next afternoon! I thought it was just because I was so sleep deprived, so I went jogging with Gary to refresh myself and get rid of the Holiday Body haha. WRONG. Once I got home, I was so fatigued I plopped onto my bed and slept another 3 hours. I totally have some kinda flu now.
So ever since I got SNES on the Wii I've been revisiting my favorite game Tetris Attack. I love it! It's so simple to pick up, but takes a lot of skill to master. Been playing a lot with Wilton and Angel so far and it's been a lot of fun and I'm looking for more Tetris Attackers out there! (Alex, I'm calling you out) Also heard from Andy that Melanie plays too, thats pretty awesome. I wanna play more people to see where I'm at skillwise. cus I've been watching some youtube vids, and damn. Makes me look like a banana.
Seriously, are these people robots?!
So last Saturday after the lumberjack party, Gary (facial hair and all) starts talking to me in some southern ass accent like "I do declare" and "it just flows out of your mouth like sweet molasses" "there's been a muhder tonight". I'm like wtf right?! I'm like hungover as hell and I don't know what to make of the man. Then yesterday he shows me the clip of The Office where he got it from, friggin hilarious. I only found a snippet of it on youtube:
Haha, I don't watch The Office much, but the entire episode was great though.. here it is on Hulu. Watch it when you got free time! it's only 22 minutes
Haven't really had a main topic these days, but I got some notables!:
On Tuesday:
Hung out with Andrew to watch the WSOP Final Table. It was pretty damned amazing watching 21 year old Joe Cada win it all. At one point he only had 2million chips with the blinds at 500k/1mill, so he was pretty much hanging by a thread. In my view, he won this tournament because he was lucky, but congrats to him being a millionaire by 21 wow.
Got introduced to Metric by Anju! Yea, a lot of people have been talking about them and I actually recognized some songs, but I never consciously listened to the lyrics. But Cora's cursory analysis, opened my eyes (ears?) haha, i also learned some vocabulary reading that post haha. Anyways, I shall be getting myself acquainted to Metric these couple of weeks. (favorites so far: Help I'm Alive, Sick Muse, G G and G)
Wednesday:
Had Kitaro for lunch with the Gary and went to Ross to pick out some Lumberjack wear for Tiana and Paula's House Partay. It should be fun! Too bad I didn't grow out the facial hairs for 3 weeks like Halloween. It's actually much more appropriate for this event! darn.
Accomplished one of my "goals" from way back! I can now play SNES, NES, GENESIS games directly off of my WII! I revisited some of my favorite games: Tetris Attack, Zelda: Link to the Past, Super Bomberman 5, and Rivercity Ransom. Nostalgic funblastastic!
Thursday:
Lazy procrastination's got the best of me. I gotta stop staying up till 3-4AM! I wanted to go down to Sunnyvale to finish step 2 (verification of UI benefits) and step 3 (talking to career counselor about the PM program), but apparently you have to show up before 10:30AM. Otherwise they run out of time slots for the counselors. I pretty much wasted my time and gas today for like 2 minutes to complete step 2 blah. So.... who thinks I can wake up at 7AM tomorrow? hahaha
3on3 Basketball
So on Saturday I played 3v3 basketball with my cousins and their friends. I'm not very athletic and I'm terrible at basketball, so I always get a little of nervous when I play a game. Luckily I was on Dillon and David's team, and they are damned good. Dillon was doing these crazy layups with a bum ankle, and David was draining 3's all day. Haha, the guy that had to guard him one game got frustrated after David busted 3 straight shots in his face and yelled: "THATS IMPOSSIBLE!! I COULDN'T HAVE BEEN ANY CLOSER!!" I did pretty decent, only took open shots, and drove it in couple of times so I had a pretty good time.
But I did do my trademark airball shenanigans once. Everytime I play with my cousins, I swear this happens. I cut to the hoop, and someone dishes me a beautiful pass. I catch it with my back turned toward the hoop a foot away from the basket, do a seemingly easy turnaround short shot, and completely airball it. Oh man, and the worst part is when I do this, I instinctively yell out a loud aiyah! (kinda like oh shit, but my chinese-ness takes over) and everyone just busts up laughing because it looks like I pulled something mid-shot. hahaha fail "(holding in laughter) are you okay chad?"
The Twilight Zone
(press play if you want to get in the mood heh)
So I just thought of this when I was driving back to Portland from Corvallis, and thought about it more when I was showering today (I always think of the best things when I'm driving or showering). So Dillon and I are pretty much the best of pals since he was born (he was born during my red egg party and we all rushed to the hospital). So here's the eerie parallel universe part:
1. We both went to agricultural schools (Oregon State and UC Davis) for college to study Mechanical Engineering, about 1.5 hours from home. (interesting.. but not too strange yet).
1a. An hour away from both our agricultural schools, is a more prestigious school (University of Oregon, and UC Berkeley) which are both known as "Hippie Towns" and smell of it too!
2. We both had roommates named Frank (zomg)
3. Both Franks majored in the biological sciences
4. Both Franks have a proven reputation for high tolerance of alcohol. (we thought this was pretty cool and laughed about it a lot)
5. This is Dillon's last year, and he took in a new roommate cus he needed a place to stay for a short period of time. So I met his new roommate Vince, the guy who introduced us to the boxing pad drills. Pretty cool dude.
6. Then while I was driving, I realized in my last year, when Anthony moved out, we took in a 3rd roommate to help cover costs. What was his name? yea you guessed it.. VINCE. (WHATTT?! cue twilight zone music!)
My 10 Year Old Cousin PWNZ (I don't use the word PWNZ much, its reserved for special occasions)
Hey Celina! watcha doin? facebooking? maplestory?... is that a gun? O_O
sorry for the long blog post, but I just couldn't ignore this one. I was hanging out with the younger cousins today and decided to check on little 10 year old Celina. What do 10 year old girls do on their spare time? I have no idea, because when I was 10 all my pals were guys. Here Celina is, happily killing strangers on the internet playing her favorite First Person Shooter called Combat Arms using a touchpad.
So whenever you're playing Halo or Call of Duty, be careful. You might get yourself embarrassed by a 10 year old girl haha
I wasn't gonna blog this until I wake up, but what the hell. I got trashed today playing Tower and Kings Cup and I just don't want to sleep yet. I don't wanna fall asleep with a throbbing headache, and I want to talk about my video games!
So the day I got to Eugene David's roommate Simon shows me his modded X-BOX loaded up with pretty much ALL THE GAMES in the world ever made! (NES, SNES, GENESIS, ATARI, MAME (arcade), XBOX, N64) Ok, maybe not all the games, but it's pretty sweet. I was planning to just KO once I got there, but this was just too awesome. I need something like this soon, imagine playing the following games, without getting up to change the cartridge or powering up another console.
1. Sunset Riders
2. Tetris Attack (my favorite game of all time)
3. Mario Kart 64
4a. Goldeneye
4b. Perfect Dark
5. Halo 2
6. Michael Jackson's Moonwalker (?????)
Wow that last game was the most ridiculous yet fun game I've played. Haha so you play as Michael Jackson, killing bad guys. And Michael Jackson has "The Force" (the lightning thing that comes out of your hands in Star Wars). Powerups? A monkey shows up, and when you go up to it, you transform into a robot Michael that shoots lasers?!!? And the most hilarious and mind-boggling part is the end when you win. Michael morphs into a jet airplane and flies away?! WHAT!? Oh yea, his special move is him pulling off moves from Billie Jean, Thriller, or Smooth Criminal, and everythign on the screen just dies lol. The best part of the game in my opinion is the music. Beat it, Smooth Criminal, Billie Jean, BAD, Thriller. awesome.
Yea this was like a week overdue. but it fits with the birthday theme! I was hella itching to play this again, so I went and bought it, even though I don't have a PS3. But whatever, I knew people would love it. Let's just call it my birthday present to myself. Thanks to Alex and Henry for their PS3's haha.
Some Crazy games:
+Alex pulls an amazing comeback win in "The Final Countdown" even though he started with only 750 points. (I don't remember it, so I'm just taking his word for it.. still kinda skeptical though)
+Andrew challenges us to a Sports Trivia Game, and who win's by a landslide? Andy.. HAHA
It's a great game, because it has so many categories that everyone's mostly on an even playing field. And it's also really easy to learn, so everyone gets into it quick. Whoever hasn't played it yet, you gotta come play soon!
Funnest party game of recent! Well its kind of a old game, but I just played it this month when my cousin got it for only 30 bucks! It's so much fun, we couldn't put it down. You can play with up to 4 friends, and everybody gets their own personal buzzer! If I find it for 30 bucks, I'm buying it, even though I dont have a PS3 yet (I'll get one in the next year! maybe.)
Its got all kinds of trivia, like movies, tv shows, music, science/tech, nature. So its usually a close game everytime. And the competition gets pretty intense (yelling, cursing, and even occasional choking) hahah. Anyways I want to introduce this to my pals, so.. whoever has a PS3.. early X-mas/B-day present?
A good friend of mine introduced these 2 fellars to me one day, and after 1 episode of their show "Life and Level" I was hooked!
He described it as the Nerd Jackass, and that description fits their show exactly.
Let's start with the 1st episodes;
So far all the guys I've passed it on to have had a blast. If you're a gamer and love slapstick then I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I think these guys deserve to be paid for what they do, so spread it around!
^A video game I was playing to soothe addictive cravings.^
sorry for the boring post at first, dont read it seriously. It's just to keep track so i can type my 3-5 page things.
so I was sitting in my dorm room and i hecka wanted to play ping pong, damned that game is fun. i was like watching ping pong videos and reading ping pong tips like a fool! a damned fool! i even grabbed my triangular highlighter like a paddle and hit my stuffed shrunken head guy around.
slam that shizz biznatch.
so yea, everyone needs to start playing ping pong, so i can have someone to play with.
